Our Policies

Health

The pet is fit and healthy, Grooming which takes place on an elderly or infirm pet will be at the owner's risk. Grooming may expose pre-existing health/skin conditions for which Brandyapple Grooming LLC cannot be held liable. Owner is aware that as a pet ages or if the pet has special medical conditions, the process of grooming may become stressful, both physically and mentally. The stress of grooming may cause latent, unknown, active or inactive conditions such as arthritis, bone, joint or surgical sites to become active or inflamed, and unknown active or inactive heart, kidney, or liver disorders to become active and can result in illness, seizures, or the death of the pet. Although Brandyapple Grooming LLC will take responsible care in the grooming of the pet, owner acknowledges that the stress of grooming may initiate immediate or latent medical problems in your pet. Owner agrees not to hold Brandyapple Grooming LLC responsible for reactions to grooming. If there is an injury a veterinarian deems was not due to pre-existing conditions or matting, and is seen by the veterinarian within 48 hours of the grooming appointment, Brandyapple Grooming LLC will pay for the necessary veterinary fees associated with repairing the injury.

Vaccination

The pet's rabies vaccine is up to date (as required by law) unless otherwise discussed. Other vaccines recommended by your veterinarian are strongly suggested but not required. Dogs unvaccinated for all vaccines aside from rabies are accepted for grooming at the owner's risk.

Emergencies

In the event of an emergency, in your absence, you authorize Brandyapple Grooming LLC to contact the nearest Veterinarian and authorize the Vet to treat the pet as necessary at your expense. Every effort to contact you will be made. Please keep your phone nearby during grooming.

Payment

Payment is to be made at the time of service. Payment can be cash, check, credit card, Apple Pay, Apple Cash, Zelle, or PayPal. Returned checks will incur a $35 charge. Our rates are based on the breed of the pet, size, behavior, condition, and type of the groom. Rates given prior to grooming are quotes and can go up based on behavior, coat condition, and complexity of your pet’s clip.

Nails, Ears, and Anal Glands

Nail cutting and ear cleaning are part of the service unless the process is too stressful for the pet or too dangerous for the groomer or dog (such as aggressive behavior, severe ear infections, large persistent movements, or other complications at the groomer’s discretion). Discounts will not be given if these services cannot be completed due to the dog’s condition or behavior. We do NOT offer anal gland expression, as this should be performed by a licensed veterinarian if needed.

Dangerous Behavior

Brandyapple Grooming LLC reserves the right to refuse service, not complete part of the full groom (ie. nail trim, bath, etc.) or to stop a groom in progress, without refund, if your pet may pose a threat to themselves, other pets or staff, whether it be an aggression problem, health problem, or parasite problem. Dangerous behavior may incur additional fees.

Parasites

We do not accept pets with multiple live fleas or 3+ ticks. If parasites are found during the groom, it will be ended and no refund will be issued.

Skin Irregularities

Because these skin irregularities may protrude from the skin, they are vulnerable to nicks or cuts during the grooming process even with the grooming being as careful as possible; owner agrees not to hold Brandyapple Grooming LLC responsible for any cuts or nicks and skin reactions/irritations due to grooming process due to such skin irregularities. Owner agrees to disclose any known bumps.

Shaving double coats

Shaving or short trimming of breeds including, but not limited to, Siberian huskies, Pomeranians, and golden retrievers may cause excessive undercoat growth and slow guard hair growth. This may result in patchiness, increased matting, and hair loss. When you sign below you agree that Brandyapple Grooming LLC is not liable for any regrowth (or lack thereof) issues associated with shaving double coated breeds, if a shave down is requested or necessary due to matting. Brandyapple Grooming LLC will not shave double-coated dogs unless it is absolutely necessary (and the owner is informed) or if requested by the owner.

Cancellations

We follow the Wake County public school closures as they pertain to inclement weather. We try to work as long as conditions are not dangerous. If you are unsure, please call us to confirm. Cancellation and rescheduling of an appointment, by the client, requires 24 hours notice to waive the FULL appointment fee. In the event of inclement weather, a family emergency or any other uncontrollable circumstance, the groomer has the discretion to waive the fee within the 24 hour period. We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a groom if we feel the need to do so. Every effort will be made to reschedule at a time convenient for both the client and the groomer.

No-shows and Late Arrivals

It is considered a "no-show" when the client is not available at the scheduled appointment time and does not contact the groomer to cancel or reschedule within 24 hours. Home Based Appointments Only: It is considered a "no-show" when the client did not arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled appointment time, this may be waived at the groomer's discretion. Mobile Appointments Only: It is considered a "no-show" when the client is not available within 15 minutes of the start of the appointment window, this may be waived at the groomer's discretion. If dogs are left loose in the house and the groomer cannot access/find/catch them, it is considered a "no show." If the client is 5-14 minutes late, a late fee of $15 may apply. We reserve the right to charge 75% of the grooming fee due to the loss of revenue caused by a "no-show". Please make every effort to call and cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance when possible to avoid such situations. We reserve the right to refuse service to any pet or client for any reason.

Mobile Pick-up/drop-off

Please be available for drop off/pickup if latch-key services have not been set up. Please have pets pottied and leashed by the start of the appointment time. Late fees may be incurred if the pet is not leased and had a potty break prior to the appointment. Latch-key pets will be returned to their home when access is granted. If the house is inaccessible to the groomer, and the owner is unavailable to pick the dog up when the groom is complete, "late pick up" fees of $2/min may be applied from the time the appointment ended. This hinders our ability to service other clients until the dog is returned home.

Home-Based Pick-up/drop off

Please arrive, have your pet leashed and pottied by the start of the appointment time. See "No-Show and Late Arrivals" policy. Brandyapple Grooming LLC will give you a time for when your pet will be ready for pick up via phone call or text when your pet is 30-45 minutes from being ready. Please pick up your pet within 15 minutes of the estimated completion time. We do one on one appointments and we try to keep the salon cage free, to do that we need pet owners to be on time. We are not equipped for daycare; if you are more than 15 mins late for pickup, “late pick up” fees of $1/min may be applied for each minute past the 15 minute grace period. For the safety of other clients, pets may be safely crated if owners are more than 15 minutes late for pickup.

Problems/Concerns

If you find a problem with your pet, you have 48 hours to let us know of the issue. If it’s something like a piece of hair that sticks out, maybe ears are a little uneven, maybe the beard is a little too long, feel free to contact me and I can squeeze your pet in ASAP to quickly just even up or trim the problem area(s). This is at my discretion and dogs will not be entirely re-groomed. If your pet is having any physical issues after the groom please contact Brandyapple Grooming LLC and your vet immediately. Any issue must be brought to our attention within 48 hours or it is void.

Photo Release

Matting Release

Matted/Pelted Pets: Mats are painful, especially when they get bad enough to pelt, for your dog’s comfort and safety, we do not perform major dematting. Matted coats can cause a variety of skin & health problems. Matted fur does not allow for air circulation to the skin, causing hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections. Fleas, ticks, maggots and other parasites may be lurking in the coat causing further skin infections. Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay on mats.  The skin underneath this is usually raw and inflamed. Matted coats will not dry properly and can lead to rotting fur and skin.  Reactions due to matting can include but are not limited to: 1. A streaking effect, often mistaken for razor irritation or "razor burn". Because mats restrict blood flow to the skin, once the matting is removed it allows the blood to rush back to the skin, sometimes leading to the bursting of small blood vessels. This cannot be avoided but will fade with time. 2. De-matting or shaving the ears can cause a similar reaction as (1) above, but the vessels of the ears may scab over. Your dog may shake their head for several days afterward, but this should be discouraged. This effect is not groomer error but another consequence of severe matting and the necessary removal of the matting. Hematomas or bleeding from the ear may occur and is not due to groomer error and Brandyapple Grooming LLC is not responsible for this.   3. There are a variety of skin and hair coat conditions that may occur after de-matting or a complete shave down. Lack of hair growth, variations to color and/or texture of the coat, bald patches, hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin where the coat has not grown back). Loss of guard coat (the top layer of the coat), coarse re-growth of hair. Exposure to the elements (sun/heat damage or stroke; cold inclement weather), exposure to bug bites and other conditions are all possible. 4. Itching after being shaved or de-matted is also possible. We discourage constant scratching. especially if your pet's nails have been recently clipped as this could cause further irritation to the skin. Brandyapple Grooming LLC is not responsible for vet bills associated with post-grooming itching. 5. Incessant licking to mat sores after de-matting/shaving should also be discouraged as this could also lead to further irritation. A cone may be necessary to prevent licking while any sores associated with matting heal. Brandyapple Grooming LLC is not responsible for any vet bills associated with a pet licking their skin. 6. You may notice some behavioral changes in your pet post-shave. This can include being reclusive, jittery. or anxious. Removing their hair feels strange to them and they may need a few days to adjust. 7. Shaving often exposes "mat sores". Once the mats are removed, the mat sores can worsen as they are now getting the air and circulation they need to begin healing. Mat sores are not caused by cuts from the razor or from groomer error. They are caused by the skin of your pet not getting the air, blood flow, or stimulation needed to maintain optimal health. If you feel your pet needs medical attention to aid in healing, then you should make those decisions accordingly. However, Brandyapple Grooming LLC is not responsible for any bills accrued as we have simply exposed the sores and did not cause them. 8. Matting prevents us from giving your pet your desired clip. It is healthier and more comfortable for your pet to have the mats removed than to attempt to adhere to an esthetic appearance. Your pet's hair will grow back, and with proper daily maintenance. When bringing us a matted pet, you agree to have the pet appropriately shaved for their health, comfortability, and safety. Coat can be regrown and properly maintained in the future. We reserve the right to refuse service to any pet or client for any reason.
